Stargazer. This was a composition exercise I started many months back, however I’ve been super busy and didn’t get around to putting the finishing touches on it until now!
I was reading the wonderful Creative Illustration by Andrew Loomis (out of print, but free pdfs available online) and he has a great section about informal subdivision as a compositional tool. Informal subdivision is a process Loomis created where you divide your image space unequally (and somewhat randomly!) by drawing a series of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines, following some certain rules. Then you use those lines to suggest a composition for whatever subject you’re drawing.
You can see the subdivision I created above & overlaid with the final. Instructions on how to do this & further process are on my blog! Try your own!

The world needs more Heroes!
I’ve been working on this between commissions for quite some time, but after the last comic Uprising, I had to finish before the event!
The comic fulfilled all my Strike Team feelings. I’m so happy Jack is a benevolent leader, that “Gabe” and Ana are the ones who give him strength. I lost the count of how many times I read that comic lol But I love it! Love it so much ;__;

All new Tuesday Tips this year!
Today, why I call the Almost Profile. Gives a slight more sense of volume. Useful in a lot of situation. Try it out!

I see a lot of beginner artists missing the mark on drawing profile views, particularly on eyebrows & eyes—I hope this helps! 💖 Obviously you can stylize things however you want, but it’s important to reference & understand how things work in real life before attempting style if you’re concerned at all about believability.
