not always but most of the time i gradiate (is that a word??) my layers. i use multiply for shading, and an overlay layer if i’m feeling spicy. (and a luminosity airbrush here and there for flavor)
these are the colors i use most often, and i airbrush it in like i’m shading?? like darkest colors where the shadows are etc. idk having the multiply layer not be entirely one color looks better to me in my work so i think that helps a lot.
in the end i basically end up with base/flats>> multiply/shadows >> luminosity lightly airbrushed in there >> sometimes a luminosity/hard color depending on what i’m doing/if i’m making shiny robots or strong light from somewhere >> sometimes an overlay >> lines >> sometimes MORE LUMINOSITY bc i’m just like that i guess

I put this together for a friend, but I figured it might be helpful to other people as well. This doesn’t cover everything, obviously! And please keep in mind that this is just how I do it, and its not the only way to draw a body, and it certainly doesnt cover every body type!!
